Cape Neddick Light Station, known to locals as Nubble Light, was built in 1879. The brick-and-cast-iron tower stands 41 feet above the rocky island and 88 feet above the sea. Its red, fourth order Fresnel light pulses every five seconds. The beacon was automated in 1987.
